Decomp: Developers reconstruct readable game code and adapt it for PC. Recomp: A tool translates the game program into PC code before you play. Native ports explained

Recomp and hybrid projects are equally common here, alongside decomp projects that rebuild readable game code for PC. Recomp translates the original program for PC; hybrid combines game code that runs as a PC program with reused software for console functions. Ape Escape uses PSXRecomp to translate its game code, with separate code handling graphics and sound.
